Standard Chartered bank is offering Step Up Fixed Deposit rates up to 10.28% per annum for 6 months by investing in selected Wealth Management products.

This promotion will run from 1 June 2011 to 30 June 2011 and is open to all existing and new customers of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia.

There are 3 type of combination that customer could choose to participate in this promotionl. Customers will also have a chance receive exclusive gifts according to the combination and total funds placed under this promotion.

    Sounds interesting..but when i read further the terms and conditions from the website you gave, i have second thought. Maybe I’m wrong but I would appreciate feedback from others:
    My understanding as follows:
    A. the 10.28% is ONLY at the 6th month ( 1 month only), thereafter (7th, 8th…12th) at the prevailing rates of the bank which i do not know
    B. not all you money will be used for FD, some portions for investment products (based on one of 3 combinations you select). Hence only the amount under FD gets the interest rates mentioned. Not sure what happens to the interest than can be gained from the investment products (i guess based on fund performance).
    3. investors are subjected to the normal fees and charges of the portion used for investment.

    There must be something hidden cost/risk to be consider. Seems to good to be true.
