How to Make a Complaint

How to make a complaint in matters related to financial sector, and address any dissatisfaction or discrepancy with bank or financial insitution?

This is a simple guide on how to make such complaint.

  1. Try to resolve the issue with bank or financial institution that you are having problem with.
  2. If the problem not resolved, contact the Complaint Unit of the bank or financial insitution to log a formal complaint.
    • All commercial banks, Islamic banks, insurance companies, takaful operators and card issuers that are regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia have established dedicated complaints units in their respective organizations to address and respond to complaints in a timely manner.
    • Alternatively you may contact The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) via their toll free line (ABMConnect) for complaint on banking products and services.
    • Example of the complaint unit contact info on BNM website.
  3. The bank or financial institution will reply to you within 2 weeks, or more for complex issue.
  4. You will receive the reply in writing. If you are not satisfy or happy with the reply, you may refer your complaint to Financial Mediation Bureau, FMB (Biro Pengantara Kewangan) for complaint that within the scope of FMB. Otherwise you may write to Bank Negara Malaysia.

    better write official letter to complaint unit of bank & cc to BNM (pls write dkt bwh surat or mana2 cc to BNM)…..minta bank reply by letter jgk. my experience bila bank tgk cc to BNM …diorg will take more serious about your complaint….

    Salam..khairul & jiming are right..I lodged my complaint to BNM on 8/12/10 then BNM forwarded letter to the bank dated 14/12..bank sent a letter of apology to me dated 4/1/2011..I called the officer-in-charge at BNM to express my gratitude for attending my complaint..I komplen kat BNM pun pasal bank x layan on cc charge..anyway bank memang takut kat BNM huhuhu..

    kalau takaful provider takut kat BNM jugak ke? dlm proses buat report jugak ni. cuma tunggu agen setel dulu. cukup seminggu terus buat komplen kat takaful and cc to bnm and fmb.

    Farhan..all insurance providers & financial institutions yg beroperasi di Msia kecuali MBSB are complied to Central Bank regulations..i komplen kat BNM pasal foreign bank still dorang takut hehehe..Anyway as customer in the event of any discrepancies or irregularities we should uphold our right!

    Those websites with complaint form features should also have to give feedback at least in 2 weeks. From my past experience, Bank Islam and Maybank took really fast feedback in 1 week. BNM should be our last solution that you can also cc. to them.

    just get offer letter OD-asb for business ni….tp tgk T & C mmg byk `susah` dp yg personal OD dulu.

    T&C nya…

    1) BLR-1….ari tuh officer tuh confirm2 kata blr-1.65
    2) ada commitment fee plak 1% p.a drp unutilized OD balance

    mmg bengang laa dgn officer cimb tu…terutama item no 2 tu…byk tu

    should i take this OD or leave it??

    jiming, setahu sy rate utk OD-ASB for business memang BLR-1%…BLR-1.65% tu rate utk OD-ASB yg personal dulu…maybe officer tu tak update (kira salah dia la jugak sebab tak verify)

    tapi since diorang spell out dlm LO, dan customer ade right utk ambik atau tidak, tak boleh nak complaint psl T&C lah kot…complaint psl servis boleh la…instead of complaint, better nego la bro
