Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has decided to maintain the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) or key rate at 3.00 percent, after the 5th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in 2012, held on 6 September 2012.

Based on the MPC meeting, BNM described economic activity in most major advanced economies as slower while conditions in the international financial markets remain volatile. Many financial experts are expecting the key rates will remain at 3 percent until year end.
